With the hint of cooler weather in the morning and the beautiful fall season and changes in weather, also comes less daylight and shorter days. During this seasonal transition into the holidays, it is important to be mindful of maintaining wellness and making self-care a top priority. Here are some simple steps to focus on fall wellness!
- Stay Active – Inactivity from cooler weather causes metabolism, circulation, lymphatic and immune systems to slow down. Whether it is taking part in 5K’s, trying a class or taking a walk, keep your body moving!
- Fuel with Seasonal Foods & Spices – Take advantage of warming vegetables like squash and pumpkin with added seasonal spices including turmeric, ginger and cinnamon. What a wonderful time to switch up your nutrition to immune boosting soups and fall favorite teas! Nutrition TIP: Ask for a single pump of pumpkin syrup in the infamous PSL to save on calories and added sugar!!
- Incorporate Healthy Fats – Research has shown that healthy fats are essential in nourishing our bodies and supporting cardiovascular health. Try cooking your vegetables in coconut oil, adding ghee to your coffee or topping your lunch salad with sesame oil!
- Find Gratitude & Purpose – Just like plants, humans flourish throughout the fall by connecting back to our root purpose. Take time to reflect on what brings joy and value to your life, find gratitude in the blessings around us, and set new intentions. Using the fall months to be mindful of holistic wellness will allow us to learn, grow, and thrive when the New Year comes!
