What does a bistro menu or FAA flight pattern have to do with your roof? - 04-15-2018 : Roofing and Waterproofing Contractor - Texas, Oklahoma

Hello there,

Most of us know that environmental exposures and foot traffic can age a roofing system before its time. Roof system designers usually take these things into consideration and plan accordingly. But I’m here to tell ya, there’s more to the story.

You can find all the nifty details in the Guest Column of the latest issue of
Chamberlin News, but I’ll give you a hint: it’s chemical. You might be surprised at seemingly little things that can be a grand part of a roof’s story. Proximity to an airport, for example, or what’s being cooked inside the building. No kidding. Oils, diesels, jet fuels and animal fats emitted through exhaust vents all have the potential to affect a rooftop system. A greasy menu could be impacting your roof’s lifespan! The information you learn could help when making choices in repairing or replacing your roof – or even the equipment on it. Interesting, isn’t it?

While you’re browsing, take a peek at this issue’s featured project, the Ashford Oaks office building in San Antonio. A high-rise of 1980s vintage recently renovated and safely sealed by the good folks at Chamberlin. They also received a nod or two from the industry for their work on the beautiful, historic Driskill Hotel in Austin.
Until next time, I’ll be seeing you around.
