Waterproofing the new Junior League of Austin
Chamberlin's waterproofing team has completed their scope at the new Junior League in Austin, Texas. Chamberlin was honored to have collaboarted with STG Design as the architect for the building and to work under general contractor HC Beck. Chamberlin installed sheet waterproofing, traffic coating, water repellent and air barrier. The waterproofing team also installed flashing and sheet metal, joint sealants, site and paving sealants and expansion control. The 48,000-square-foot building is the new Community Impact Center to serve as both a headquarters and a collaboration space for community engagements.
The process to build the center began nine years ago when the Junior League organization bought ten acres of land in Northwest Austin. The new facility doubles the old center in size. Features of the new two-story Community Impact Center will include a signature program room and space to expand its Food in Tummies program as well as a pollinator garden. The facility will also be available to the community to rent for events.
The Junior League of Austin is one of the largest under the Junior League banner across the country with 2,500 active, provisional and sustaining members. Junior League put a lot of thought into how the organization could interact more intently with the community and purchasing the 10 acres was just the beginning. It's been a long time coming, almost ten years later and 18 months building and it is finally complete.
