Where it All Started
Richard moved to Oklahoma from California and met Jorge Cipriano who told him all about the waterproofing industry and while they were working for a competitor together, he told Richard about Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing. Shortly after Richard began working for Chamberlin at our Oklahoma City location.
A Day in the Life:
Most of the time, unless Richard has something to do in the field, he starts his day off by answering phone emails and reviewing QA/QC reports from the day prior. He then heads to the projects to visit with the onsite Superintendent/Foreman as well as the team. He will also make his way into the job site trailers to visit with the GCs to see if they need anything from our office or to simply say hello to them. Richard’s conversations with the GC’s consist of discussing conditions of our work areas, material installation/needs and go over safety. Many times, he tries to make it back to the office at the end of the day to see if anyone needs any additional help.
Outlook:
Richard’s outlook on customer service is treating everyone with respect, listening to their needs and making sure they are taken care of at the end. He says that safety should be taken seriously no matter how small the task at hand is. The goal at the end of each day is that everyone goes home to their loved ones in one piece. To Richard, quality here at Chamberlin is like no other. All our employees are molded to take pride in all materials that are being installed no matter how small the task might be. We take pride in what we deliver every time by doing it right the first time. We couldn’t do this without teamwork. Here at Chamberlin coming together without asking for help is what sets us apart from other companies.
Notable Projects:
Devon Tower was Richard’s first project and seeing this 52-story building come together was amazing to him. It was accompanied by an auditorium, west and east podium and rotunda (main entrance). He said they installed all the below grade waterproofing, hot applied, joint sealants and traffic coatings in the parking garage, IT rooms and basements. We were also contracted to handle all the fire stopping for four trades (electricians, mechanical, plumbers and communication). They did all of this with the help of the Dallas waterproofing team, who are always willing to lend an extra hand when they are needed. Another project that Richard is proud of is the OSU Baseball Stadium. We handled all the below grade waterproofing, AB and JS. He said that it was a smooth project and every trade communicated very well with each other. The project came together with little to no hiccups and ended up turning out beautifully.
Greatest Personal Accomplishment:
Richards greatest personal accomplishment has been paying off his home at the young age of 33-years old. This has put him in the mindset of investing in real estate as much as he can. This has also allowed him to be able to breed farm animals (chickens using incubators and sheep).
Life Without Chamberlin:
If Richard didn’t work at Chamberlin, doing what he is now, he would work at an auto body shop for classic cars and pickups. It’s something he did during high school as a part time job. Ever since then, Richard has always had a passion for classics.
