Nate Greve - Field Operations Manager
Where it All Started
Nate started his career in roofing when he was still in college. He would do roofing work over the summers. It was the best paying job for someone with a hard work ethic and an inherent drive to learn as much as he could. After Nate graduated from college, he applied at Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing and the rest is now history.
A Day in the Life:
A typical work day for Nate can look one of many ways. The role he’s in as a Roofing and Sheet Metal Field Operations Manager is highly fluid. Nate typically meets one or multiple of his crews at their job sites first thing in the morning. The most consistent part of his day is finding new, innovative ways to be more productive on our various job sites.
Outlook:
In Nate’s opinion customer service is the one and only key to unlocking the true potential of any business. Going hand in hand with that is how we perform on our jobsites. Was it clean? Was it detailed correctly? Does the installed work do its job – not leak? What many people don’t realize is that everything that goes into a successful project hinges on each member of the team installing the work to understand that they are important to the process, even when their task may seem monotonous.
Notable Projects:
a. AMLI Fountain Place – This was a unique project, but also a standout piece of the Dallas Skyline. This large green glass building’s roof is inside of the building, it has zero exposure to rain or UV.
b. Tex-Rail – As far as notable, the first project for any Project Manager should be one that is remembered. Nate’s first project when he started at Chamberlin was a handful of roofs over a new rail system going across the metroplex. There are various locations and different railroad regulations at each station, which could have set the project up for failure, but we were able to avert through some quality pre-planning and had an experienced crew, making it where everything worked out just fine.
c. Choctaw – Another notable project for Nate was the Choctaw Casino Expansion project in Durant, Oklahoma. This was a large and formidable project. It took a great deal of learning to accomplish and understand it, due to its design-build tendencies. This project taught Nate more about the details that go into roofing than probably any other project he’s handled since starting at Chamberlin.
Life Without Chamberlin:
Nate stated that he will be a roofer for life. This industry creates a unique and challenging environment that mimics the athletic world in his opinion, and that’s exactly what he was looking for when he was settling on his career path. Roofing is difficult and it’s not for everyone, but if you nurture your understanding of the trade, it gets to be one of the more rewarding scopes to handle, because every project is inherently different.
