Bob Esperum Headshot 2024

Where it All Started:
Bob Esperum’s journey in the roofing industry began in 1988 after having years of experience in the hotel management traveling industry. Bob and his wife got to a point in their lives where they wanted to start a family and he decided to go into a different career that would allow him to stay more at home. Bob accepted an offer from a family friend to join their roofing company’s management team and that opportunity led to his first steps in the roofing industry. Accepting that offer would result in having 36 years of experience and knowledge in the roofing industry which has allowed him to grow and have many opportunities. Bob goes on to say that he has been “very blessed; I have worked for three great companies and have met so many lifelong friends.”

A Day in the Life:
A typical day in the life for Bob involves interacting with the great team that Chamberlin has placed throughout the office. Bob works very closely with the operations team. His task involves reviewing current and upcoming projects, discussing technical challenges, and planning daily operation agendas. Bob also makes an effort to discuss upcoming projects with our estimators and always makes an effort to be available for other team members as needed. As a leader, Bob is always making himself available to make sure that our Chamberlin team is giving clients are best all the time.

Outlook:
Bob has a very positive outlook for the roofing and waterproofing industry. Bob goes on to say that “there will always be a demand for our services” due to the importance of construction and innovation. Bob believes that Chamberlin is equipped with many resources and has developed a trustworthy name with great clients and staff that only increases the opportunity for growth. The only challenge Bob sees is our industry’s not-so-glamorous reputation which inevitably creates challenges in finding team members who truly want to learn the trade and grow within.

Notable Projects:
Bob has been a part of many projects during his time at Chamberlin. Notable projects include many buildings at the University of Illinois. Buildings include the Intramural and Physical Education Facility (IMPE), Science & Engineering Building, Football Practice Facility, Temple Hoyne Buell Hall College of Architecture, and several others. Bob also highlights work he was done at the Illinois Old State Capitol (Waterproofing Restoration) and Lincoln’s Tomb that is in Springfield, IL (Waterproofing Restoration).

Greatest Personal Accomplishment:
Bob Esperum’s greatest personal accomplishment is being the patriarch of a loving Christian family of three children and four soon-to-be five grandchildren. Bob and his wife go on to say that they “couldn’t have asked for more”. Focusing more on his career, Bob’s greatest accomplishment is “being able to help fellow employees, watch them grow and succeed, and be able to provide for their families”. Being able to be a part of that process has great meaning to Bob and his career.

Life Without Chamberlin:
A life without Chamberlin for Bob would include more family time with his wife and three children. It would also allow him to travel more, go on cruises, or as Bob states “sit on a beautiful beach somewhere and listen to the waves crash”. To balance all the fun from the traveling, Bob would enjoy doing volunteer work and quite bass fishing.
