A Dallas waterproofing crew recently revitalized an FWISD IM Terrell Academy school building including masonry restoration and cleaning, tuckpointing brick and cast stone plus joint sealant and mortar installation. The new OSHA requirements mandate that a technician can only perform the brick tuckpointing for a certain number of hours, so Chamberlin crew members’ time on that task were tracked and the crew rotated as required to not exceed the maximum. Also, the crew members wore special respirator equipment while performing the tuckpointing.
While cleaning the building, the crew built a chemical water collection system to prevent contamination from the cleaning agents of the ground and surrounding drains. The system was constructed with poly film and a collection tank with a water pump.
A very aggressive schedule had the crew working 12-hour shifts seven days a week to complete the project in time for the fall semester. This crew maximized productivity while keeping safety as a primary focus to complete the job on time and well within budget.
