Chamberlin's Involvement at Community First! Village
Community First! Village is a 51-acre community in Austin, Texas, that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness. Two Chamberlin team members have been involved in serving this community. Jill Wedel, Business Development Associate, attends work days at Community First! Village with BOMA Austin's Community Outreach Committee where they help maintain the property of the 630 homes by gardening, raking, repairing fences and other tasks as necessary.
Maintenance Project Estimator Daryl Ball also leads teams in building tiny houses in the community as well as giving tours, fundraising, transportation for residents and provides music at religious services. Last Spring, Daryl was unanimously voted into missional life by the existing 38 missional residents. Recently, Daryl purchased an RV, sold his house and moved to Community First! Village where he lives as a caring neighbor modeling the example of a person who creates a home as he works daily to provide. He is also an available friend for many of the residents who have little friends or family. He thanks Chamberlin for their support and everything they have done for him and Community First! Village.
