A Note on Safety

A good night’s sleep is not just a novelty, it’s a necessity. The effects of fatigue are far-reaching and can have an adverse impact on all areas of our lives.
- Up to 6,000 fatal crushes each year may be caused by drowsy drivers
- Being awake for more than 20 hours is the equivalent of being legally drunk
- Chronic sleep-deprivation causes depression, obesity, cardiovascular disease and other illnesses
You need seven to nine hours of sleep every day, but 43% of working adults sleep less than seven hours a day. As a result, our workforce is increasingly fatigued, with one in four workers saying they have fallen asleep on the job in the past month.
- Establish a nightly bedtime routine
- Sleep and wake at the same times each day
- Don’t repeatedly hit snooze
- Avoid screen time close to sleep time
- Avoid uncomfortable bedroom conditions, including temperature
